Today is the halfway point for policy boot camp. One of my favorite weeks of the year, getting to know the incoming students and getting ready for the new quarter.
Class begins in two more days-this quarter will carry over some of the old and introduce some new elements. One carry over from last quarter will be the opportunity for students to participate in experiments and conduct a mini survey on a class survey panel. One new element will be the creation of working groups around specific topics. The plan is for the working groups to provide peer support as students progress through the research process. This quarter I will be incorporating a bit from Dona Wong's text on graphics and figures, in addition to the material from Stephen Few and Edward Tufte.
